We’re almost in a brand new year. Can you believe it?! The holidays have been crazy-busy
for many people, and many pets have been feeling the effects of all the busy-ness of the season. Did you remember to make time to take your dog out for a calm, quiet, relaxing walk? Did you remember to make time for some one on one training with your dog? Did you remember to make sure your pets had a quiet space to retreat to when the house was full of people and noise? That’s awesome – and good on you for thinking ahead. ♥
As we prepare to enter a whole new year, what are your plans and goals? I’m currently working with a sweet Lagotto Romagnolo pup named Vincent; we’re already two sessions in, but I’ll bring everyone up to speed in the next day or two. For now, I’ll just say he has issues, and his family is committed to him and working hard to help him recover. I’m honored to have been chosen to be part of their journey. What about you? What are your challenges with your dogs, and how are you handling them? Share in the comments! 🙂
I hope the new year brings you only the very best life has to offer. I wish you all prosperity, good health, love, joy, and peace. I thank everyone who has liked and followed me on Facebook and YouTube, and I thank you all for your ongoing support and encouragement. These past 9 years with all of you have been absolutely amazing, and I appreciate you all so very much.
Have a great day, stay calm and lead on, and Happy New Year!
My boy will be 14 on March 4th and was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease in October. He is responding well to medication at this time and enjoys his walks etc. I am trying to keep him as mentally stimulated as possible. Do you have any tips for this? He has all the basics such as sit, stay, down, wait etc., but I’d like something new to gently challenge his mind and keep him mentally alert and focused. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hi Anne! Have you tried doing some sniffing games with him? I know his dietary situation, but you could maybe try the cup game with him; would he be okay with two or three treats? You put one under a cup and then encourage him to use his nose to “find it”. Another fun game could be to roll a treat up in a towel and have him sniff it out. Or, if you don’t want to use treats, what about teaching him some fun, easy games? Shake a paw, high five… Things like that? What about playing a gentle game of tug? Does he like those kinds of games? I’ll keep thinking and try to come up with something more for you. 🙂
