Roko has been doing really well. His interactions and his manners with Glimmer and Violet and with other people have improved, he’s been doing much better with his recall and other basics, his counter surfing has almost completely stopped, he’s walking much more nicely on the leash… Across the board, Roko has made a lot of progress. He still has a lot of work to do, but considering where he was three weeks ago, he’s come a very long way.
On the other side of the coin, I’ve been seeing some very negative behavior changes in Roko for the past couple of days. I’m concerned that he may be having some pain in his back and hips, so I’m going to be contacting his owners about taking him to see his vet. It’s probably just growing pains, but we need to be certain.
Overall, Roko has done very, very well learning how to be a better boy. His interactions with Glimmer and Violet have improved dramatically, and he’s been getting better about meeting strangers and other dogs. Although he is still tugging a little sometimes, his leash manners on walks have improved significantly; in fact, walks with him are now enjoyable and quite relaxing.
Roko still has a long way to go to become a calm, relaxed dog, but time and patience will take care of that. He’s a teenager with a lot of energy to burn; it’s normal for him to want to be everywhere at once and do everything all at once. After all, the world is a big place with all kinds of interesting and new things to explore and investigate.
Have a great day, and remember: Stay calm, and lead on.
