Lupin went home with his people yesterday. He showed them in person how much he’s changed and how much he’s progressed. I hope his people are happy with the results I’ve achieved with him, and I wish them all a long and very happy life together. I know they will continue to work with him, and I know he will continue to give them his best self as he matures and grows.
This past month has been a life-changing experience for me in ways I can’t begin to describe. Every dog I work with teaches me far more about how to live than I could ever teach them, but Lupin took that life instruction to a whole new level. It’s going to take some time for me to process how deeply he has affected my life.
But it wasn’t only me Lupin affected. He brought Glimmer out of her shell in a way no other dog has been able to do, and after the bite incident, he worked hard to help my husband recover from the emotional impact that bite caused.
Lupin is unlike any dog I have ever worked with, or will ever work with again. I am so very grateful to his people for choosing me, and for trusting him with me, and I’m grateful to Lupin, too, for his patience and compassion while he was guiding me to a greater understanding and deeper connection.
It’s been an honor and a privilege to work with this beautiful boy. I wish him and his people a long and very happy life together. Thanks to everyone who has been following his journey. Have a great day, and remember to stay calm and lead on.
